Ubuntu Repository

This page lists instructions for installing DNAnexus software on Ubuntu computers outside the DNAnexus platform.

If you're running Ubuntu 16.04, the easiest way to make sure your DNAnexus SDK is always up-to-date is to install it from our APT repository (more info about APT). To set up the repository on your computer:

# (1) Add the repository by doing one of the following.
# On Ubuntu 16.04:
sudo /bin/bash -c "echo 'deb http://dnanexus-apt-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/ubuntu xenial/amd64/' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dnanexus.list"
sudo /bin/bash -c "echo 'deb http://dnanexus-apt-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/ubuntu xenial/all/' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dnanexus.list"
# (2) Load the DNAnexus repository signing key.
wget https://dnanexus-sdk.s3.amazonaws.com/apt/ubuntu-signing-key.gpg
sudo apt-key add ubuntu-signing-key.gpg

Now you can install dx-toolkit:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install dx-toolkit

To activate the installation and begin using dx-toolkit:

source /etc/profile.d/dnanexus.environment.sh
